Role overview

The Cluster Assistant Director of Sales contributes to hotel success by generating revenue, expanding market presence, and delivering strong client and guest experiences.

The role works with the Commercial Team to lead strategic sales initiatives, develop key accounts, and support a high-performing sales team.

Sales strategy and business development

  • Assist in developing and executing the hotel's sales strategy to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Identify opportunities across corporate, government, MICE, leisure, wholesale, and travel trade segments.
  • Develop relationships with key clients, corporate accounts, travel agencies, event planners, and business partners.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking.
  • Contribute to annual sales plans, budgets, forecasts, and action plans.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and sales missions.

Revenue generation

  • Drive room revenue, banquet sales, catering revenue, and other hotel-related business opportunities.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor account production and market performance to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Work with Revenue Management and Marketing to optimize business mix and pricing strategies.
  • Manage sales leads, inquiries, proposals, and contracts.

Leadership and account management

  • Assist in managing, mentoring, and developing the sales team.
  • Provide guidance and performance coaching to Sales Managers and Executives.
  • Maintain key account portfolios and conduct client visits and presentations.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements within approved guidelines.
  • Act on behalf of the Director of Sales during their absence.

Reporting and collaboration

  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, market intelligence, and business performance updates.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM and sales systems and track pipeline performance and conversion ratios.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Revenue Management, Marketing, Reservations, and Events teams.
  • Coordinate site inspections, familiarization trips, and client events and ensure handover to operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of hospitality sales experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proven ability to develop business opportunities, grow market share, and achieve revenue goals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and hotel sales applications.
