Cloud Engineer

Monitoring, Reliability, and Operations

• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability for cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Identify performance, availability, and reliability issues and implement preventative solutions.
• Participate in production releases, infrastructure changes, and production incident resolution.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support patching, vulnerability remediation, end-of-support, and end-of-life remediation.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience initiatives.

Security and Compliance

• Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM, least privilege, encryption, and secure configuration.
• Support cloud security and compliance requirements, including PCI and organizational controls.
• Identify and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities and security findings.
• Ensure infrastructure changes follow governance, change management, and security standards.

Cost Optimization

• Monitor AWS resource utilization and identify cost optimization opportunities.
• Support FinOps initiatives through rightsizing, resource optimization, lifecycle management, and automation.
• Promote cost-aware cloud architecture and engineering practices.

Agile and Team Responsibilities

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Work with the Cloud DevOps Manager on backlog management, prioritization, and refinement.
• Resolve technical blockers and dependencies and contribute to delivery velocity and quality.
• Demonstrate completed Cloud DevOps capabilities to teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to cross-skilling, technical documentation, runbooks, knowledge sharing, and management updates.

Essential Experience and Skills

• Two to three years of hands-on experience in AWS Cloud and DevOps.
• Good understanding of AWS core services.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization.
• Operational experience with AWS ECS and Fargate.
• Good understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and load balancers.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, Git, scripting, monitoring, cloud security, production support, and Agile/Scrum.

Desirable Skills

• AWS certification such as Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator.
• Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, Helm, reusable Terraform modules, Terraform state, or AWS Lambda automation.
• Knowledge of AWS cost optimization, FinOps, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Experience with regulated environments, application performance monitoring, distributed tracing, or multiple AWS accounts.
