What We’re Looking For:
If you are a science and space enthusiast who is excited about working on cutting-edge technology and with a talented team of professionals, then you will be excited about the Cloud Engineer I position with Iridium for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Cloud Engineer I, you’ll work as part of a team to support the implementation, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems using Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and gain hands-on experience supporting secure and reliable cloud environments. This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
What You’ll Do:
Work with team members to support the deployment and maintenance of applications and infrastructure utilizing the AWS technology stack
Assist with implementing established automation processes and standards for AWS cloud services
Support the configuration and maintenance of infrastructure components to meet established performance and security requirements
Perform defined system testing activities for security, performance, and availability, escalating issues as appropriate
Assist with troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and system issues, working with more experienced team members to identify and implement solutions
Develop and maintain technical, design, and troubleshooting documentation in accordance with established standards and procedures
Collaborate with team members and other technical functions to support the successful implementation and operation of cloud infrastructure
Build knowledge of AWS cloud technologies, tools, processes, and security practices through hands-on experience and guidance from more experienced team members
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a combination of equivalent education and work experience/certifications in lieu of degree
General experience in IT systems and infrastructure
Basic understanding of networking concepts, cloud infrastructure, security, and/or container technologies
Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
AWS Cloud Certification
Direct experience with Government customers in a classified environment
We’ll also need you to:
Be able to support 24/7 on-call on an as-needed basis
Be able to travel up to 10%
Be a US Citizen
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

Under Iridium’s Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least four days per week (approximately 80%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.

Base Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000 USD
Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus. Employee benefits also include medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 401(k) retirement plan options; paid time off and paid holidays; paid parental leave; and other discounts and perks.
