Role Description
The Owner at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC, responsible for strategic leadership, vision, and stewardship of the school’s academic and creative mission.
This role oversees day-to-day operations, including program development, resource allocation, and coordination with faculty, staff, and university leadership.
The Owner guides the integration of arts education with broader liberal arts initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and student needs.
Responsibilities include cultivating partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting faculty excellence and student success, and promoting an inclusive, innovative learning environment.
The role also involves high-level decision-making related to budgeting, facilities, communications, and long-term planning to advance the school’s reputation and impact.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, organizational oversight, and team development.
- Experience in higher education, arts administration, or a closely related field, with a strong understanding of academic and creative program delivery.
- Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent the school effectively within and beyond the university.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in arts and design education and community engagement.
- Background in arts, design, or liberal arts disciplines; advanced degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
- Experience with budgeting, resource management, and operational decision-making in complex organizations.
- Capacity to support innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student-centered learning in a dynamic academic environment.
