Job Summary
The City of Greeley Recreation is looking for an Adaptive and Inclusive Class Instructor to join our growing team.
We are looking for instructors who can teach and lead in a variety of formats including youth and adult sports, swim lessons and other aquatic programs, and social programs.
Instructors are responsible for leading safe, effective, and motivating programs for community members with varying ability levels.
Minimum Requirements
- Customer service experience.
- Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. (Ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
Or
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,
And
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Preferred
- Experience teaching swim lessons desired.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to design an effective class based on the format and participant needs.
- Ability to provide program modifications for a wide variety of abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with participants of all abilities and understand techniques for inclusion facilitation and positive behavior support.
- Ability to uniquely motivate and build rapport with class participants to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
Travel
- Category B-Regular Local/Field Based Travel: This position requires regular travel within the County and nearby cities. Employees frequently travel to field sites, client locations, or other City buildings as part of their job duties. Access to a personal or City fleet vehicle may be required.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for design and delivery of group programs on the weekly schedule.
- Keep accurate record of class attendance.
- Willingness to cross-train in other program areas.
- Serve as a role model to staff and participants as it relates to personal fitness, etiquette and safety.
- Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for staff and participants.
- Provide positive relations and policy education to participants.
- Maintain familiarity of Greeley Recreation functions including risk management procedures, membership information, basic operational practices, and understanding of programs and services.
- Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate emergency procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
- Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and in adverse weather or extremely hot conditions, where one may be exposed to loud noises, dust, fumes, and chemicals.
- Workdays may extend from early morning to late evening, as well as weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 49lbs.
- Physical effort required including, but not limited to, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking.
