Civil Site Design Project Engineer

Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and design for civil site and land development projects.

Develop and review site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, and erosion control designs.

Prepare engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, calculations, and construction documents.

Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop project designs and deliverables.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, surveyors, architects, contractors, and other disciplines.

Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgets, and resource needs.

Support the preparation of project scopes, proposals, fee estimates, and technical approaches.

Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, site visits, and construction-related activities.

Assist with construction administration, including responding to contractor questions, reviewing submittals, and providing technical support.

Apply applicable engineering standards, codes, regulations, and permitting requirements to project designs.

Review project deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.

Identify technical issues and work with senior staff to develop effective design solutions.

Communicate technical information clearly with project team members and clients.

Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables while developing greater responsibility throughout the project lifecycle.

Continue developing technical and professional skills through mentorship, project experience, and professional development opportunities.

Represent Benesch at industry events, professional organizations, networking events, and other business development opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.

4+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in site development, land development, municipal engineering, or a related field.

Experience with civil site design, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, or related engineering work.

Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Understanding of civil engineering principles, design standards, codes, and permitting requirements.

Experience preparing engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, and other disciplines.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
