Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Inspector specializing in Structural assessments to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on structures.
The Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, evaluating structural integrity, and providing detailed reports on the condition of project and related infrastructure.
The role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of structural engineering principles.
Site & Construction Inspection
- Conduct routine and detailed site inspections for roadworks, including:
- Earthworks, embankments, and subgrade preparation.
- Pavement layers (sub-base, base, asphalt wearing/binder courses).
- Kerbs, footpaths, junctions, and traffic islands.
- Drainage systems (culverts, stormwater networks, chambers).
- Road furniture, signage, and safety barriers.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with:
- Project specifications.
- Applicable standards (AASHTO, ASTM, BS, DMRB, UAE/DOT standards).
Health, Safety, And Environmental Requirements
- Verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods before approval.
- Witness field and laboratory testing (compaction, asphalt, concrete, soil tests).
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate inspection records, site diaries, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection and progress reports.
- Report defects, delays, and quality issues with clear recommendations for corrective actions.
Coordination & Stakeholder Interface
- Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, surveyors, and QA/QC teams.
- Participate in site meetings, technical reviews, and coordination sessions.
- Support inspections with authorities, clients, and regulatory bodies.
Technical Support
- Provide guidance to junior inspectors on road construction best practices.
- Assist engineering teams with site queries, design clarifications, and constructability issues.
- Ensure works are completed in line with approved traffic management plans and sequencing.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- Master's degree is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in road and highway infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in site inspection, supervision, and quality control for:
- Roads, highways, expressways.
- Interchanges and junction improvements.
- Associated infrastructure (drainage, utilities, bridges).
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- Road construction methods and pavement design.
- Materials used in road projects (asphalt, aggregates, concrete).
- Familiarity with international and regional standards such as:
- AASHTO, ASTM, BS, DMRB, ASCE.
- Local authority/DOT standards (UAE preferred).
Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in inspection tools, reporting systems, and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel across project sites as required.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
- Relevant QA/QC or HSE certifications.
