Role Overview
The Site Foreman cum Engineer is responsible for technical supervision and hands-on execution of daily vacuum sewerage house connection works.
The role combines on-ground labor supervision with basic engineering oversight and reports to the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
Site Execution and Supervision
- Supervise trench excavation, interlock removal, GRP manhole placement, uPVC pipe laying, QuaVac Vacuflow interface installation, and backfilling.
- Carry out setting out, level checks, and alignment checks for trenches, chambers, and pipework.
- Directly supervise labor gangs and equipment operators to maintain productivity and adherence to the work program.
Quality, Safety, and Coordination
- Ensure works comply with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Monitor workmanship quality during bedding, manhole placement, pipe jointing, backfilling, and interlock reinstatement.
- Coordinate material handling and crane operations during GRP manhole placement.
- Raise site queries and observations and support WIR and MIR preparation for consultant inspection.
- Enforce PPE use and safe working practices in coordination with the Safety Officer.
Reporting and Close-Out
- Maintain daily site records, progress reports, and material consumption logs.
- Support testing and commissioning with the MEP Coordinator and manufacturer's specialist.
- Assist with as-built records, checklists, test reports, and other close-out documentation.
Requirements
- Ability to execute vacuum sewerage house connection works in accordance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Ability to supervise labor gangs and equipment operators while maintaining productivity and adherence to the work program.
- Knowledge of quality checks for bedding, manhole placement, pipe jointing, backfilling, and interlock reinstatement.
- Ability to enforce PPE use and safe working practices among supervised labor.
- Ability to maintain daily site records, progress reports, and material consumption logs.
