Role Overview

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Graduate to join its Transportation team in Markham, Ontario.

The role focuses on transit and major projects, including tunneling, bridges, and multidisciplinary design delivery.

The position is expected to start in May 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and design of subways, LRT/BRT corridors, tunnels, underground stations, and bridge structures.
  • Prepare design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with calculations and analysis for alignment, grading, drainage, utilities, tunneling, bridge design, and constructability.
  • Coordinate interfaces across structural, geotechnical, rail systems, MEP, ventilation, fire and life safety, and construction management disciplines.
  • Contribute to staging and detour plans, temporary works, and methods statements for tunneling and bridge construction.
  • Develop visual aids and presentation materials for design communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work under project manager or senior team member supervision and follow quality procedures and applicable standards.
  • Collaborate on complex, multi-phase programs with emphasis on safety, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Completing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering focused on Transit, Structural, Geotechnical, or Transportation Engineering.
  • Preferred qualifications include interest in tunneling and bridge design and relevant transit, rail, tunneling, or bridge experience.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, AutoTurn, and InRoads/OpenRoads is preferred.
  • Experience with bridge or geotechnical analysis tools is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools are preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, collaboration, and documentation skills are preferred.
  • Awareness of CHBDC/CSA, provincial or municipal, and transit or rail standards is an asset.
