Responsibilities
- Develop and implement laboratory strategies, policies, and operating procedures aligned with organizational objectives, scientific standards, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, including chemical analysis, analytical testing, sample management, instrument calibration, quality control, and laboratory workflow optimization
- Collaborate with R&D, quality assurance, manufacturing, engineering, EHS, procurement, and regulatory affairs teams to support business and research initiatives
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, GMP, environmental regulations, and applicable industry standards
- Monitor KPIs including testing accuracy, turnaround time, laboratory productivity, equipment utilization, quality compliance, audit outcomes, and operational efficiency
- Manage laboratory instrumentation, analytical equipment, maintenance schedules, calibration programs, and validation activities
- Oversee laboratory quality management systems, method development, method validation, proficiency testing, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of chemicals, hazardous materials, and laboratory waste in accordance with HSE regulations
- Manage laboratory budgets, procurement activities, inventory control, supplier relationships, and resource planning
- Analyze laboratory data, scientific findings, operational trends, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation
- Prepare technical reports, laboratory performance dashboards, validation documentation, regulatory submissions, audit reports, and executive presentations
- Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory supervisors, chemists, analysts, technicians, and support staff while fostering a culture of scientific excellence, safety, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or related scientific field
- Master's degree or PhD in a related discipline is highly advantageous
- 5+ years of experience in chemical laboratory operations, analytical chemistry, quality control, R&D, or related laboratory environments
- 2+ years of experience managing laboratory teams, quality systems, or scientific operations preferred
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry, laboratory quality management systems, chemical testing methodologies, laboratory instrumentation, ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, GMP, and laboratory safety standards
- Experience with LIMS, chromatography systems (GC, HPLC), spectroscopy instruments, analytical software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, hazardous materials management, risk assessments, method validation, and accreditation processes is advantageous
- Strong analytical, scientific, leadership, organizational, project management, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication, technical writing, stakeholder management, and cross functional collaboration abilities
