Cell Slurry Engineering Intern

Solid Power is seeking a ​ Cell Slurry Engineering Intern ​ to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries.

The preferred candidate is currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies focused on engineering, chemistry, or related fields.

• Work closely with and under the direction of Scientists and Engineers to execute planned experimentation in the lab and on pilot production equipment.
• Support cell design & process development efforts throughout the product development cycle with a specific focus on polymer characterization and optimization.
• Utilize analytical instruments including (but not limited to) DSC, Rheometers, DMA, and FTIR.
• Run mechanical testing such as peel adhesion and mandrel bend.
• Communicate results and make recommendations for future experimentation or formulation improvements for our electrolyte and conductive slurry recipes.
• Support lab experimentation through data collection, data analysis, diligent maintenance of records, and accurate reporting of data
• Follow facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations at all times.

• Experience in material characterization techniques including rheology, EIS, SEM/EDS, DSC/TGA, and particle size analysis is a plus.
• Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
• Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience.
• Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
• Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
