Looking for a role that fits around your lifestyle?

As a Casual Catering Assistant in the Wyre Area, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of working term-time only, with no evening, weekend, or school holiday shifts.

This is a great opportunity if you’re looking for occasional work that fits around your other commitments.

This role is a Casual position and hours are not guaranteed.

Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across the county, serving more than 60,000 meals every day.

Now, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals like you to join our casual team.

In this role, you will:

  • Support schools across your local area as and when needed
  • Help prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals to students
  • Keep catering areas and equipment clean and hygienic

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Can stay calm under pressure and use your initiative
  • Have great customer service skills
  • Have experience in catering or food preparation (this is a bonus, not a must!)

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday (as required)
  • Term time only

If you’re flexible, reliable, and enjoy working in a school environment, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013).

If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'.

Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.

In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, found on our website here.

We reserve the right to close down a vacancy early, before the closing date, if we receive sufficient applications.

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council.

However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.

Throughout this period, our focus remains on delivering excellent services to our communities.

By joining us now, you'll play an important role in shaping the future of local government and helping to build a strong new organisation that will serve residents for years to come.
