The Role

Cargo Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement cargo management strategies, operational policies, service standards, and logistics plans aligned with organizational objectives.
• Lead end-to-end cargo operations, including shipment planning, cargo acceptance, handling, storage, loading, transportation coordination, tracking, and final delivery.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Warehousing, Transportation, Customs Compliance, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance, Sales, and Executive Leadership to ensure seamless cargo operations.
• Manage relationships with airlines, shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, logistics providers, transportation vendors, and warehouse partners to maintain service quality and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with local and international cargo regulations, customs requirements, dangerous goods regulations, aviation and maritime standards (where applicable), security requirements, and organizational policies.
• Establish operational procedures for cargo handling, inventory control, packaging, documentation, shipment visibility, and risk management.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including on-time delivery, cargo accuracy, warehouse productivity, shipment turnaround time, transportation costs, customer satisfaction, cargo damage rates, and operational efficiency.
• Analyze cargo volumes, transportation trends, operational performance, and logistics costs to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
• Manage cargo budgets, vendor contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), freight negotiations, and operational expenditures while maximizing service quality and profitability.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives through Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), cargo tracking platforms, automation technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and business analytics.
• Utilize WMS, TMS, ERP platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, cargo management systems, and analytics tools to monitor operational performance and generate actionable insights.
• Prepare cargo performance reports, logistics dashboards, budget analyses, executive presentations, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop cargo supervisors, warehouse coordinators, logistics specialists, and cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of safety, customer service, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Business Administration, International Trade, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Master's degree or professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), FIATA, IATA Cargo, PMP, or equivalent are advantageous.
• Minimum
• 5 years of experience
• in cargo operations, logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing, transportation, or supply chain management.
• At least
• 2 years of experience managing cargo operations, logistics teams, warehouses, or transportation programs
• preferred.
• Strong understanding of cargo handling procedures, warehouse operations, customs compliance, freight management, inventory control, transportation planning, and supply chain processes.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms, cargo management software, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and logistics analytics tools.
• Familiarity with dangerous goods handling, import/export documentation, Incoterms, automation technologies, AI-powered logistics solutions, IoT-enabled cargo tracking, and digital supply chain transformation is advantageous.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cargo and logistics initiatives while balancing operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, budgets, and business objectives.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in remote and hybrid environments for planning and administrative responsibilities, with flexibility to support operational activities, warehouse inspections, and time-sensitive shipments when required.
