Role Overview
Relay is a digital banking platform serving self-made business owners.
The Business Development Representative owns the first sales conversation with prospective customers and creates qualified handoffs to Account Executives.
What You Will Do
- Work inbound and outbound leads selected by fit and buying signals.
- Lead phone conversations and discovery with small business owners.
- Handle objections and guide qualified prospects toward the right next step.
- Explain Relay's value in clear language based on prospect needs.
- Give Account Executives context for continuing the conversation.
- Meet activity, conversion, and meeting targets.
- Review performance, seek coaching, and apply feedback.
- Surface objections, lead-quality issues, and process gaps.
- Improve team resources, talk tracks, and workflows.
Candidate Requirements
- At least six months of SDR, BDR, or similar sales experience with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding targets is required.
- Ownership, coachability, competitiveness, growth orientation, and comfort with ambiguity are expected.
- Candidates must communicate confidently, ask thoughtful questions, handle objections, and explain complex products simply.
