About the role
Relay is hiring a Business Development Representative to own the first sales conversation with prospective small business customers.
The role involves understanding each prospect's business, uncovering needs, explaining Relay's value, handling objections, and creating strong handoffs to Account Executives.
The sales motion is evolving, so the role requires comfort with changing processes, lead sources, and priorities.
What you will do
- Work a mix of inbound and outbound leads selected based on fit and buying signals.
- Lead phone conversations with small business owners and run discovery about their businesses and finances.
- Handle objections, guide qualified prospects to the right next step, and explain Relay's value clearly.
- Give Account Executives the context needed to continue conversations.
- Meet activity, conversion, and meeting targets.
- Review performance, seek coaching, and apply feedback to future calls.
- Surface recurring objections, lead-quality issues, and process gaps.
- Help improve team resources, talk tracks, and workflows.
