Business Development Representatives (“BDR”) are responsible for qualifying both inbound and outbound sales leads at the initial stages in the sales funnel. They must research potential clients, connect with, and educate prospects before handing them off to the closers of the sales team.

The outbound process requires the BDR to reach out to prospects in the form of cold calls, emails, or social networks. This process allows BDR to personalize their outreach for the first touch point, but many people don’t like being contacted without having preciously shown interest.

The inbound process is directed toward prospects who have shown interest in our product or service by reaching out to the company via phone call, email, or request for additional information online.
