Job Summary

The Business Analyst III performs advanced business and system analysis work by planning and coordinating process analysis and determining requirements to meet business needs.

Develops conceptual process design specifications, analyzes, coordinates, and supports information needs.

Supports Trellis Operations and IT in functions associated with analyzing, maintaining, and formulating recommendations for application and software enhancements as they relate to system design, screen formats, data entry functions, and account management for the various applications utilized at Trellis.

Develops various reports and information sources to allow improvements and efficiencies in day-to-day workflows.

Serves as liaison between Trellis Operations, IT, external business partners, and clients to facilitate research, testing, and implementation of new or modified processes and products.

Facilitates communication and training for all affected business areas, as needed.

Creates and maintains process documentation and procedures for business applications and tools.

Maintains reporting and data processing capabilities in compliance with standards established by the Department of Education, third-party federal regulations, customer contract requirements and Trellis policies.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The position incumbent is expected to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation.

  • Partner with business stakeholders and IT to gather requirements, perform functional analysis, evaluate business needs, and recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze the impact of system, process, workflow, regulatory, and business changes; communicate findings and recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
  • Research, interpret, and implement regulatory and compliance changes to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and organizational requirements.
  • Administer business applications and web-based solutions, including user access management, security monitoring, system configuration, and performance oversight.
  • Define, maintain, and monitor application controls, parameters, templates, correspondence documents, and related configurations to support business operations.
  • Lead system testing, quality assurance activities, code migrations, and production implementations, including development of test scripts, validation of results, and approval of migration packages.
  • Investigate system, data, and application issues; analyze trends, identify root causes, and develop resolution recommendations.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze operational, compliance, audit, statistical, performance, and ad hoc reports to support business decisions and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct system audits and provide documentation, reporting, and analysis in support of audit, legal, and regulatory requests.
  • Coordinate cross-functional issue resolution efforts, manage deliverables, and oversee projects and initiatives to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Serve as the system subject matter expert and trusted resource for Operations, IT, management, and business partners.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate procedures, user guides, training materials, and system documentation; deliver training and support adoption of technology solutions.
  • Monitor internal systems and third-party applications to identify performance concerns, assess risks, maintain quality standards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coach, mentor, and support the development of analysts and other team members to strengthen organizational capability and succession readiness.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology-enabled solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, compliance, and customer experience.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through continuous learning, training, and development activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to gather and document business requirements, perform functional analysis, and translate business processes into technical and operational solutions, including the use of approved AI-enabled tools
  • Experience administering business applications, managing user access, monitoring system security, conducting testing, and supporting code migrations.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data, experience, judgment, and AI-enabled tools to support decision-making and business performance.
  • Knowledge of automated systems, data flows, interfaces, and reporting methodologies.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Excel, Word, Visio, JIRA, Confluence, Miro, data visualization platforms, and other business analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret and apply FFELP regulations, federal and state laws, contract requirements, and company policies to ensure compliance.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree. Six (6) years of regulatory-based experience in a Business Analyst role will substitute for the degree.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree.

Required

  • Six (6) years of Business Analyst experience in a regulatory-based environment which includes at least two (2) years’ experience in analysis, development, and implementation of technology related projects and three (3) years serving in a project lead role.
  • Six (6) months or more experience with SQL, reporting, data visualization, or similar analytical tools to support decisions and reporting requirements.

Preferred

  • Three (3) years of experience with FFEL Collections, Claims, or Default Prevention.
  • One (1) year of project management experience.
  • One (1) year of experience in using AI tools and technology in generating business requirements, generating test scripts, data analysis, etc.

Pay And Benefits

Base Salary: $ 84,098.00-$112,131.00 per year (commensurate with experience)

This position is also eligible for a corporate annual incentive, subject to the discretion and approval of the Board of Directors.

Work Environment

  • Work may be conducted remotely or in an office with a surrounding small cubicle environment.
  • Office work environment is climate controlled with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
