Role overview

Responsibilities

• Undertake and lead botanical surveys throughout Western Australia, including detailed, basic, and targeted flora and community surveys.
• Identify flora and prepare vegetation and flora assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, clearing assessments, and documentation supporting referrals and environmental assessments.
• Prepare proposals to support business growth.
• Travel throughout Western Australia, often to remote locations for extended survey periods.
• Conduct ecology surveys and assessments.
• Maintain knowledge of ecology, botanical guidance, and approvals.
• Make technical decisions and provide solutions based on expertise.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant consulting experience as a botanist, preferably in Western Australia but not essential.
• Current C class driver’s licence; manual experience is preferred.
• Experience and understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
• Experience in proposal development, project management, and teamwork.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior team members.
• Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.

Work location and travel

• The role is based in Perth and requires travel throughout Western Australia, including remote locations and extended survey periods.
• Relocation to Western Australia from within Australia will be considered.
