About the Role
The Department of Primary Industries (Queensland) is hiring a Biosecurity Officer to work with industry stakeholders on plant biosecurity capability and preparedness. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural or Environmental Science and a driver's license.

Responsibilities
- Work alongside industry organisations to support delivery of capability and preparedness activities for management of biosecurity risks
- Build relationships, trust and rapport with growers and industry stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to improve biosecurity practices
- Work with researchers, regulators and industry to establish framework for development of secure pathways that minimise disruption to trade in event of a biosecurity incursion

- Australian Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Agricultural or Environmental Science, or related field
- Current 'C' class drivers' licence
- Flexibility to undertake occasional travel with overnight stays

Role Overview
- Work closely with industry stakeholders to support delivery of capability and preparedness activities for management of plant biosecurity risks.
- Use strong engagement skills to understand biosecurity needs, risks, issues and motivators within the region.
- Provide technical expertise on crop protection for established pests and diseases, including integrated pest management and crop protection products.

Mandatory Requirements
- Australian Bachelor degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Agricultural or Environmental Science, or related field.
- Current 'C' class drivers' licence.
- Flexibility to undertake occasional travel to other locations with overnight stays may be required.
