We have a fantastic opportunity for an Automation Developer, to join our I.T Division here at NFUM Mutual.
This role offers the opportunity to work from home 50% of the time, with up to 100% homeworking for an exceptional candidate.
Reporting to the I.T Team Leader, the main purpose of the role is to configure, integrate and lead components of developing automation for one or more applications and / or systems. It’s also- to ensure that all technical components within area of responsibility, are fit for purpose and meet the agreed business and system requirements. Some key accountabilities will include:
Consult and advise business stakeholders on new business initiatives requiring IT solutions within area of expertise in order to ensure a planned and cohesive IT development approach that meets business needs and is aligned to Group IT Strategy.
Review, analyse and evaluate IT system requirements in collaboration with IT Business Analysts and IT Solution Designers to ensure that they provide sufficient clarity to enable the production of technical development estimates and effective IT system development.
Evaluate and interpret end-to-end technical system designs and recommend changes to applications and / or products within area of responsibility, collaborating with IT Solution Designers to ensure that the final IT solution is fit for purpose and meets the agreed system requirements.
Configure, develop, unit test, integrate and lead complex / large technical automation code changes in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as required, to build technical solutions to agreed estimates, time and quality requirements.
Document and direct the handover of software into business-as-usual (BAU) operation and coordinate the resolution of live technical incidents and system problems as and when required, in accordance with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.

As our Automation Engineer you will the type of person who has a genuine passion and understanding on how Automation works. You will have the willingness to want to develop yourself further in this role, which is something we will help and provide with. You’ll also be or have:
An Information Technology related degree, or equivalent industry experience.
Strong background working in tooling or automation roles
Proficiency in a writing, executing and testing programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CCS, .NET
Experience of working in an Agile/ Scrum environment
Meaningful relevant and demonstrable experience of IT automation / software development
Formal qualification in technical area of specialism (desirable)
Extensive experience of implementing automated testing (desirable)
Good knowledge of code repositories like GIT (desirable)
Solid understanding of JSON data structures and API calls (desirable)
ITIL awareness (desirable)
Experience of various software development methodologies (desirable)
Knowledge of XML and structural programming concepts. (desirable)
