Job Summary
The Auto & GL Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving automobile and general liability claims.
This position ensures timely claim reporting, accurate documentation, fair and consistent claim outcomes, regulatory compliance, and effective communication throughout the claim lifecycle.
The role works closely with Safety Managers, fleet managers, branch leadership, insurance carriers, adjusters, and attorneys to gather information, coordinate claim activity, and support resolution.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Investigate Auto & GL Claims – Collect statements, review police reports, photographs, estimates, correspondence, and other available evidence; analyze facts and determine liability and claim exposure.
Manage Claim Files – Maintain complete, accurate, compliant, and organized claim files; document correspondence, reports, discussions, decisions, payments, and other claim activity throughout the claim lifecycle.
Report and Track Claims – Assist with timely claim reporting and filing; monitor open claims, maintain claim status information, and prepare claim watchlists and recurring claim reviews.
Evaluate and Resolve Claims – Review coverage, liability, damages, reserves, and settlement considerations; exercise sound judgment and coordinate with carriers, independent adjusters, and defense counsel as appropriate.
Coordinate Repairs & Estimates – Work with vehicle coordinators and other appropriate personnel to review repair estimates, validate repair costs and timelines, and track vehicle damage claims through resolution.
Handle Subrogation & Recovery – Identify recovery opportunities and pursue reimbursement when third parties are responsible for a loss; coordinate documentation and follow-up as needed.
Coordinate Claim Payments & Reimbursements – Process or coordinate claim-related payments, reimbursements, deductibles, and recovery documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Coordinate with Internal & External Partners – Maintain communication with branch leadership, Safety Managers, fleet managers, insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and other involved parties to obtain information and move claims toward resolution.
Attorney & Litigation Support – Assist with attorney communications, provide requested claim documentation, attend claim meetings as needed, and track follow-up actions related to litigated or potentially litigated claims.
Claims Analysis & Reporting – Review claims for trends, recurring causes, and areas of increased exposure; communicate meaningful findings to Risk Management leadership and appropriate operational partners.
Regulatory & Policy Compliance – Apply knowledge of applicable state laws, regulations, insurance policy requirements, and company procedures to support compliant claim handling.
Maintain Confidentiality – Protect confidential claim, employee, customer, and company information and exercise appropriate discretion when handling sensitive matters.
Perform Other Risk Management Duties – Support the Risk Management department with related assignments, special projects, and administrative duties as directed.
Experience
1+ years of experience in a professional business environment is required.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to review and interpret reports, estimates, correspondence, legal documentation, and other claim-related information.
Ability to manage multiple claims and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, branch leadership, insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions

Physical Requirements
Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively.
Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing and reviewing documents and spreadsheets.
Able to operate office equipment, including telephone, mobile phone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner and calculator.
