Associate, Test Engineering, Mechanical Tooling Designer

Primary Responsibilities
Design mechanical tooling to support product build, testing, and repair
Engage closely with machine shops and operations engineering teams in assembly and verification of new tooling, trouble-shooting existing tools, and procuring parts for prototype units once a design is approved
Creating and/or updating 3D mechanical models in CAD programs
Work closely with the customer to gain knowledge of project specifications
Guide internal customers and make recommendations to tooling requirements
Generate details, assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOM) for new and existing tooling projects
Create tooling procedures and user manuals
Utilize the PLM application (Team Center) to control tooling documentation and commercial parts creation
Provide “ Design For Manufacturability” input to the “ New Product Introduction ” process, relating to tooling
Ensure manufacturing process optimization, capacity utilization, and waste reduction
Develop novel and innovative technical solutions to solve Manufacturing build challenges
Assist with preventive maintenance activities as required
Assemble and repair tooling and/or the coordination of outside services
Mentor to students working in the Tool design team
