The Associate, Cloud Engineering role operates within the Cloud Platform Engineering team and specializes in Cloud Developer Experience Engineering.
The team builds tools, frameworks, workflows, platform components, and services that streamline scalable cloud-native development.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components for safe enterprise-wide use of common cloud functionality.
- Build developer-facing tools for cloud platform technologies and create onboarding experiences and documentation.
- Develop internal portals and dashboards to simplify cloud resource management.
- Advocate for developer needs in cloud architecture and product decisions.
- Provide Level 3 support and design, implement, and refactor code.
- Participate in scalable design discussions, planning, retrospectives, stand-ups, and peer reviews.
- Ensure applications meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
- Work with engineers and architects to scope and estimate tasks.
- Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
- Guide application teams on platform use, design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
Required Skills
- Strong programming skills in at least three object-oriented and/or scripting languages, such as JavaScript, Java, or Python.
- Experience with a modern technology stack such as React or Spring Boot.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience with AI coding assistants.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle and web application security concerns.
- Understanding of cloud DevOps, including GitOps and CI/CD.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within Canadian financial institutions.
Bonus Competencies
- Experience with Azure, GCP, cloud-native patterns, Kubernetes, internal developer platforms or portals, developer-facing UX, or agentic coding tools.
