Role Overview
The Product Engineer I supports innovation and problem solving for the building industry, working directly with window and door products.
The role develops improved products and performance while leading revenue-generating and cost-saving initiatives.
Essential Duties
- Design, prototype, certify, and launch new products.
- Analyze current products and proposed designs for specifications, applicability, and feasibility.
- Monitor compliance with AAMA, WDMA, NAMI, CSA, NFRC, and IGMA certification standards.
- Create drawings, schematics, prototypes, and data-rich reports for cross-functional coordination.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders and Non-Standard Product Requests.
- Serve as product champion and technical lead for assigned product-line projects.
- Visit manufacturing facilities for launches, production support, and audits.
- Participate in kaizen and voice-of-customer exercises.
- Visit construction sites for customer service, field testing, and service support.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required; mechanical engineering preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant engineering experience and new product development experience are preferred.
