Role Overview
The Product Engineer I supports innovation and problem solving for the building industry, working directly with window and door products.
The role focuses on meeting customer requirements through new product development, improved performance, revenue generation, and cost savings.
Essential Duties
- Design, prototype, certify, and launch new products.
- Analyze current products to ensure specifications remain maintained and current.
- Review proposed products and designs for applicability and feasibility.
- Monitor products for compliance with AAMA, WDMA, NAMI, CSA, NFRC, and IGMA standards.
- Create and review drawings, schematics, prototypes, and data-rich reports.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders and Non-Standard Product Requests.
- Serve as product champion and technical lead for assigned product lines.
- Visit manufacturing facilities for product launches, production support, and audits.
- Participate in kaizen and voice-of-customer exercises.
- Visit construction sites for customer service, field testing, and service support.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with mechanical engineering preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant engineering work experience is preferred.
