Associate - Landscape Architect

Job description

Project leadership and design

• Lead strategy and innovation related to products, processes, standards, and methodologies.
• Manage and coordinate multiple medium-sized landscape design projects independently with less oversight.
• Structure project teams and prepare resource deployment for review by senior staff.
• Operate as a technical lead coordinating multiple disciplines and project requirements.
• Lead client interfaces, meetings, contractual requirements, and project deliverables.
• Plan and conduct design and creative review sessions for projects and competitions.
• Apply public realm design standards across landscape projects.
• Bridge design ideas with budget constraints and align design thinking to client objectives.

Technical and studio contribution

• Lead and deliver technical packages and landscape designs independently with senior review.
• Apply planting and irrigation requirements, standards, and regional guidelines.
• Promote innovative design solutions and improve design graphics and presentations.
• Promote new digital tools and participate in internal landscape design research and development.
• Review landscape cost plans and update project financial status and change orders.
• Organize internal libraries and update landscape capability statements and project sheets.
• Gain site experience on built landscape projects and resolve site issues.
• Provide updates for weekly studio and resourcing meetings.

Proposals and quality

• Identify skills gaps and support sourcing, interviewing, and recruitment of new joiners.
• Manage, coordinate, and deliver landscape bids and proposals, including technical approaches and methodologies.
• Prepare and coordinate commercial aspects of bids in line with project expectations.
• Apply quality procedures and conduct self-checks and QA/QC reviews before deliverables are shared.
• Provide professional mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of professional experience in landscape architecture with design and delivery expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline field.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Working toward professional membership in Urban Design or Architecture, such as RIBA or an equivalent.
• Applicants should upload a portfolio demonstrating landscape architecture design work.

Work location model

• The stated work location model is hybrid.
• Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
