AECOM is seeking an Associate Landscape Architect to join its growing design team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The role contributes to landscape architecture project design and delivery while developing technical expertise, supporting project leadership, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
The position includes increasing project responsibility and contributions to studio design quality and reputation.
Project Leadership and Delivery
- Lead strategy and innovation related to products, processes, standards, and methodologies.
- Manage, coordinate, and lead multiple medium-sized landscape design projects independently with less oversight.
- Structure project teams and prepare deployment plans for review by senior team members.
- Operate as technical lead for medium-scale landscape projects and coordinate multiple disciplines.
- Lead client meetings, manage contractual requirements, and coordinate deliverables with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Lead and deliver complete technical packages and landscape designs independently with senior review.
Design and Innovation
- Plan and conduct design and creative review sessions for projects and competitions.
- Apply public realm design standards across landscape projects.
- Contribute to studio design ethos discussions and design drivers.
- Balance design ideas with budgets and steer design thinking according to client objectives.
- Promote innovative design solutions and improvements in design graphics and presentations.
- Promote new digital tools in landscape design projects and support internal research and development.
Commercial and Studio Support
- Review landscape cost plans and update project finance reports and project financial status.
- Prepare change orders and variation orders in liaison with the project manager and project director.
- Organize internal libraries and update landscape capability statements and project sheets.
- Coordinate landscape bids and proposals, including technical approaches, methodologies, delivery structures, and commercial aspects.
- Provide updates for weekly studio and resourcing meetings.
- Help identify skills gaps and support sourcing, interviewing, and recruitment of new joiners.
Quality, Site, and Mentoring
- Gain site experience on ongoing landscape-built projects and help resolve site issues.
- Apply quality procedures and perform self-checks and reviews before deliverables are shared.
- Review and check deliverables according to QA/QC requirements.
- Provide professional mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in landscape architecture with demonstrated project design and delivery expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required.
- A master's degree is preferred.
- Candidates should be working toward professional membership in urban design or architecture, such as RIBA or an equivalent body.
- Applicants should upload a portfolio demonstrating landscape architecture design work.
Onboarding Requirement
- Newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
