Role Overview
Abbott's Diabetes Care business designs, develops, and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for home and hospital use.
The Witney Centre of Excellence manufactures electrodes and biosensors for diabetes management in a high-volume regulated environment.
The Associate Engineer will join the Operations Group and focus on control systems within biosensor manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Support engineering and systems projects with a focus on PLC systems.
- Run trials on manufacturing equipment and create models.
- Collect and analyse data, design experiments, and write reports.
- Complete documentation in compliance with site, corporate, and external regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and wider engineering projects.
Requirements
- An HNC or HND in a science or computing field is required.
- Engineering or technical experience is preferred, including databases, technical drawings, problem solving, CAD systems, or test design.
- PC literacy is required.
- Project management experience from industry or academic studies is preferred.
- Interest in developing vision systems expertise is welcomed.
Workplace and Schedule
- The role is based at Abbott's Witney production facility.
- The work shift is standard.
- Travel is listed as approximately 5% of the time.
Engineering Environment
The engineering team supports projects, process, production, systems, software, research and development, and machine vision.
The site includes a fully equipped workshop and uses state-of-the-art automation.
