DNV’s - Energy Systems North America Region is seeking an Associate Engineer (Hydraulics) to work in the Hydraulics and Flow Assurance group in the Advisory Services Department in Midstream/Downstream & Labs service area. This team of engineering consultants specializes in hydraulic and flow assurance modeling including single phase steady state and transient hydraulics analysis (Synergi Pipeline Simulator) as well as, multiphase thermal and hydraulic steady state and transient analysis.
The Engineer will be responsible for the initiation, development, and completion of the hydraulics and flow assurance studies for DNV clients. The position is based in the Calgary office with a Hybrid work model.
This position reports to the Head of Section in Hydraulic & Flow Assurance.
This position will be located in our Calgary, AB, Canada office, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Carry out for Flow Assurance studies using software packages, e.g. SPS, Synergi Gas, Synergi Liquid, LIQT, AFT Fathom, OLGA, etc.
Model systems from reservoir through well tubing, flowlines, risers, export pipelines, and single-phase transmission lines.
Compiling data received from pipeline operators and determining the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve the issue at hand.
Documenting analyses and processes and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results and the implications of those results to the pipeline operator.
Engage in innovative energy transition projects involving hydrogen and carbon capture pipelines
Working effectively and efficiently within a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other’s work.
Carry out regulatory compliance reviews of client assets and facilities.
Attending technical seminars to present technical papers of innovative work or projects and increase understanding of the pipeline industry and new technologies
Business development within existing projects and customers
Education: B.S. degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Pipeline or Civil) from an accredited university
0 – 2 years of related experience
Microsoft Excel and Word, strong technical writing skills, problem solving, critical thinking, ability to pick up technical concepts quickly
Ability to speak with a wide variety of industry clients for the purpose of communicating DNV services and capabilities
Attention to detail, internally motivated, hardworking, strong interpersonal skills, professional presence, and takes initiative
Microsoft Powerpoint, macro and Python programming experience
Knowledge of fundamental fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
We conduct pre-employment background screening
Prior experience using pipeline hydraulics software such as SPS
Prior experience using process software such as HYSYS
AI and machine learning experience
Global independent expert in assurance and risk management.
