The project: Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBEN) is leading the UK government’s small modular reactor (SMR) programme to accelerate the delivery of new nuclear capacity as part of the UK’s long‑term energy security and Net Zero strategy.

The programme is being delivered through a development company (DevCo) model, starting with SMR1 at Wylfa, and is progressing from early development and assurance into structured delivery.

GBEN is establishing long‑term delivery, governance and integration capability to manage multiple workstreams, suppliers and early works in a highly regulated nuclear environment.

You’ll be responsible for:

Foundation engineering contract - Mace role

• The foundation engineering contract supports early site development and enabling works for SMR1 and is a critical path package within the wider SMR programme.
• Mace’s role is to act as programme, planning and schedule lead, providing integrated programme controls, schedule development and coordination across the foundation engineering scope and its interfaces with DevCo, the owner’s Engineer and other early works packages.
• The focus is on establishing a robust, integrated baseline programme, managing interfaces and dependencies, and providing clear, decision‑ready schedule insight to support GBEN as the programme transitions toward full delivery.

You’ll need to have:

• Experience delivering complex infrastructure programmes with strong planning and controls capability.
• Skilled in coordination, interface management and stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical judgement, turning programme data into clear, practical recommendations.
• Adaptable, collaborative and comfortable working in evolving, regulated programme environments.
