Function and team
The Credit and Risk team sits within Group Risk and Compliance and provides independent oversight across the Private Credit platform.
The team supports governance, frameworks, lending decisions, portfolio management, restructuring, recoveries, and assurance.
Portfolio review and risk
- Support and take ownership of portfolio reviews with portfolio management teams and identify emerging risks.
- Exercise delegated authority for non-material credit requests and escalate matters above defined thresholds.
- Contribute to watchlist, early warning indicator, and lessons-learned processes.
Underwriting and advisory
- Partner with origination teams to evaluate new lending opportunities and provide credit expertise and challenge.
- Review credit papers, provide recommendations to Credit Committee members, and advise on existing portfolio positions.
- Prepare and present reporting on portfolio health, performance, and emerging trends.
Continuous improvement
- Improve credit processes, frameworks, monitoring tools, reporting, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Contribute to credit projects and process initiatives as required.
Essential experience
- Significant experience in credit risk, credit analysis, or portfolio management within lending, private credit, or credit advisory is required.
- Strong financial analysis, credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills are required.
- Degree-level education and the ability to work autonomously while constructively challenging colleagues are required.
Desirable experience
- Private credit, alternative lending, direct lending, mid-market or SME lending experience is desirable.
- Experience with watchlists, early warning indicators, provisioning, impairment, credit frameworks, monitoring tools, or reporting processes is desirable.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools in credit or risk and familiarity with credit documentation or risk rating tools are advantageous.
