Associate, Data Scientist - New Grad, 2027 Start

About the Role

Responsibilities and Projects

• Use Python and PySpark to analyze millions of transactions and understand and predict fraud patterns.
• Explore proprietary data sources and create predictive models for customer behavior.
• Apply machine learning techniques to build financial risk models.
• Create and test algorithms to optimize search engine marketing.
• Design and develop data pipelines and visualizations to monitor model performance and data quality.

Basic Qualifications

• Have obtained or be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in 2027.
• Pursue a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
• Have a strong coding background.
• Have experience using Python.
• Be able to clearly explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Linux environment is preferred.
• Experience using Git or another version control system is preferred.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud service provider is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.

Work Model

• Capital One supports a hybrid model with three days in the office per week.

Compensation

• The expected annual salary is $110,000.
• The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses.
