This role designs and implements data pipelines, manages cloud-based data environments, and ensures data is engineered to be clean, structured, and accessible for analytics. The Associate Data Engineer provides the foundational data architecture that supports business intelligence, analytics, and data visualisation activities across the organisation, enabling evidence-based decision-making and performance improvement.
Monitor and optimise data processes across the Microsoft data landscape, including Synapse pipelines, Power BI, and Fabric jobs. Analyse and forecast cloud costs while implementing the efficient use of cloud resources. Integrate data from internal and external sources into unified data environments, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability through validation and cleansing processes. Implement security measures and access controls to protect sensitive data, develop automated data quality checks and monitoring systems, and collaborate with BI and data analysts to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions.

Identify opportunities to improve the performance, scalability, and efficiency of data infrastructure. Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architectures, pipelines, and processes to support knowledge sharing and ongoing maintenance. Support the implementation and adoption of new capabilities in machine learning and data science.
Troubleshoot system and network issues, diagnosing and resolving software, data, and user-specific problems. Provide technical guidance on data availability, structure, and best practice usage, while supporting analytics projects through the preparation and provisioning of required datasets.
Work closely with data analysts, BI analysts, and data visualisation specialists to enable effective analytics and reporting. Collaborate with Digital and Technology teams on infrastructure, security, and system integration requirements, and maintain regular engagement with internal and external support teams regarding operational support, system performance, and future development plans.

Microsoft Azure Synapse (desirable)
Microsoft Power BI and Fabric (desirable)
Essential:
Demonstrable experience in supporting Data and Analytics systems, preferable in a global corporate environment (service desk).
Experience of Microsoft Data and Analytics capabilities (such as Synapse, Data Factory, Azure Monitoring tools, Azure Cost analysis)
Experience of guiding and coaching business users on technical problems through to resolution.
Proven track record of taking ownership and supporting change
