We’re looking for a highly motivated Assistant System Operator to join our Network Operations team.

Based at either our Eastern Creek or Newcastle depot, you’ll support the safe and reliable operation of the high-voltage transmission network and play a key role in outage planning and real-time network operations.

This is a shift work role with a staged competency development program and opportunities for office rotations, giving you exposure to complex operational challenges and career development within one of the most essential teams in our business

A Day in the Life of a Assistant System Operator at Transgrid

Every day brings something new.

You’ll work alongside System Operators, engineers, and field crews to keep the network operating safely and efficiently.

On any given shift, you could be:

• Assessing potential network impacts and viability of outage plans
• Preparing outage packages and High Voltage PRIs
• Facilitating safe access for work on high-voltage apparatus
• Liaising with AEMO and external customers to coordinate outages
• Assisting in real-time network monitoring and responding to issues
• Maintaining accurate logs and supporting operational documentation updates
