The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports management of a hotel dining outlet and helps deliver memorable guest experiences alongside operational and financial performance.
The role involves directing restaurant operations, staff, guest service, food quality, supplies, facilities, marketing, and compliance.
People and Operations
- Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel, discipline, evaluate, schedule, and direct restaurant staff.
- Oversee dining and service-area setup and provide guidance for operational improvements.
- Ensure the restaurant follows applicable policies, procedures, safety standards, sanitation standards, and laws.
Quality and Guest Service
- Monitor food quality, preparation methods, temperatures, appearance, taste, and consistency against guest and service standards.
- Interact with guests to obtain feedback and investigate and resolve complaints in a timely manner.
- Inspect restaurant facilities and equipment, take corrective action, and oversee timely completion of repair and maintenance work orders.
Inventory and Marketing
- Forecast inventory usage and monitor supplies such as linen, glassware, silverware, chinaware, condiments, and other service items.
- Participate in restaurant marketing efforts, create menu ideas, survey competition, report food trends, and assist in preparing specials.
