We are looking to grow our team and continue building a long-term relationship with the client, so we are looking for an Assistant Project Manager.
You will be central to a highly collaborative team based in Gloucester.
As part of our team, you will deliver a variety of Highways, Structures and Geotech projects for our client.
As Assistant Project Manager, you will join our established Project Management team, co-located at the offices in the centre of Gloucester.
You will be able to adopt WSP’s approach to hybrid working and should expect to be visible to the team and Client in the office for at least three days per week.
You’ll work on a range of significant infrastructure projects across the county and also collaborate with resources from other WSP teams nationwide.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of schemes, working closely with project managers, designers, technical specialists, the client and delivery partners.
You will help coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams through feasibility, design, procurement, and construction support stages, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the agreed scope, programme, budget, and quality standards.
This will include supporting technical approvals, design reviews, design assurance, CDM, H&S, QA and technical review processes.
You will also play an important role in managing project information, programmes, fees, reporting, stakeholder inputs and commercial processes, while helping to build a stronger and more resilient project management capability within the Gloucester team.
This is a varied role, with responsibilities including:
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary project and design teams to deliver improvement schemes through feasibility, design, procurement, and construction support stages.
- Working closely with highways, drainage, structures, traffic, construction and other technical specialists to support integrated project delivery.
- Supporting the management of technical approvals, design reviews, design assurance, CDM, H&S, QA and technical review requirements.
- Supporting design-related activities where appropriate, including progressing surveys, design drawings, site measures, early risk reduction reviews, statutory undertaker information and related technical coordination tasks.
- Monitoring design programmes and managing interfaces between design, client, stakeholder and construction activities.
- Leading and supporting project management processes, including project planning, scope definition, fee estimates, risk analysis, roles and responsibilities, and regular reporting.
- Developing project management plans and producing weekly/monthly progress and project control reports for the client and wider business.
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs across projects, including colleagues in other WSP teams and remote teams in the UK and overseas.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, colleagues, delivery partners and key stakeholders.
- Managing project fees, change control, value engineering/value management and the commercial position of assigned projects.
- Helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality, safety and technical standards.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
- Experience in managing a range of project management activities, systems and processes.
- A good understanding of commercial and financial project management.
- Sound organisational skills and excellent communications skills.
- Experience in producing programmes using MS Project or similar software.
- Achieved, or working towards, professional status through the Association for Project Management or similar professional institution.
Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
Work on landmark projects around the world and embrace opportunities to make an even bigger impact in the communities you care about.
