The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Experimental Condensed Matter Physics (CMP).
Applicants with research experience in all areas of Experimental CMP are strongly encouraged to apply.
Some of the areas that the CMP group seeks to expand include, but are not necessarily limited to, device physics based on topological quantum matter, with applications in quantum information, quantum computing, and other emerging areas, and physics applied to technological developments (e.g. information storage devices, nanoscale electronics, plasmonics, ultrafast opto-electronics). In general, candidates who can synergistically expand the research portfolio of the CMP group in applied materials physics, quantum materials and devices will be strongly considered.

Candidates should have a PhD in Physics or another field closely related to Physics. The candidate is expected to have a strong research record in Experimental CMP and is expected to develop a first-class, externally funded research program, to provide state-of-the-art training for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and to contribute to the teaching mission of the department at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
