Role Description
- The Assistant Professor will teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in their discipline, prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, and develop course materials aligned with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
- Day to day responsibilities include guiding student projects, supervising assignments and assessments, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
- The role also involves engaging in scholarly activities such as research, publications, and conference participation, as well as serving on academic committees, supporting accreditation processes, and participating in departmental and university events.
- The Assistant Professor is expected to contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment and collaborate with colleagues to advance the academic and strategic goals of the university.
Qualifications
- Advanced academic qualifications: Doctoral degree (PhD) in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution; candidates with a strong academic record and ongoing research agenda are preferred.
- Teaching expertise: Demonstrated experience in university level teaching, course design, and assessment, with the ability to use student centered and technology enhanced teaching methods.
- Research and scholarly skills: Evidence of research activity through publications, conference presentations, or funded projects, and the ability to contribute to the department’s research profile.
- Academic and professional communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to diverse student cohorts.
- Curriculum and quality assurance: Familiarity with academic governance, accreditation standards, learning outcomes, and continuous improvement processes in higher education.
