Assistant Production Manager

Job tracking and reporting

• Track jobs from file release and proof approval through printing, binding, packing, and dispatch.
• Follow up on pending jobs and escalate delays or bottlenecks to management.
• Maintain production MIS, schedules, printer allocations, cost comparisons, delivery reports, rejection reports, and vendor records.
• Prepare daily and weekly production reports and management updates.
• Ensure production data is accurately updated in relevant systems and trackers.

Quality and materials

• Coordinate with printers and quality control teams to ensure books meet approved specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor issues involving paper, colour, pagination, binding, lamination, trimming, packing, and finishing.
• Coordinate corrective actions, rejection, and rework when required.
• Monitor paper and other production material requirements and support stock planning.

Cross-functional coordination

• Coordinate with Editorial, DTP, Sales, MIS, IT, Finance, Warehouse, and Logistics teams.
• Resolve production-related queries and ensure smooth information flow across departments.
• Support avoidance of excess inventory, shortages, and production interruptions.

Required qualifications

• The role requires 4–7 years of relevant experience in publishing, printing, book production, or manufacturing.
• A graduate degree is preferred, particularly in Production, Printing Technology, Operations, or a related field.
• Five years of production management experience is preferred.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of offset and digital printing, book binding, finishing, paper, packaging, and production costing is required.
• Strong vendor management, negotiation, analytical, coordination, follow-up, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Proficiency in MS Excel or Google Sheets and production MIS or ERP systems is required.
• The role requires the ability to manage multiple titles, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously.

Compensation and benefits

• Pay is ₹40,000–₹55,000 per month.
