Responsibilities
- Install and maintain engines, hydraulic motors, pumps, compressors, and miscellaneous mechanical devices.
- Maintain and repair mechanical drilling equipment including circulating, rotating, hoisting, and well control systems.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and analyze mechanical malfunctions and failures.
- Read and analyze mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Ensure an adequate amount of spare parts are on hand.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate onsite activities for repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred
- At least 3 years of work experience as a mechanic helper, oil and gas industry preferred
- Ability to obtain appropriate offshore or onshore certifications
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and proficient with hand and power tools
- Proficient knowledge of diagnostic equipment
- Mathematical skills required for mechanic certification

Job Description
- Performs all tasks of a mechanical discipline including installing and maintaining engines, hydraulic motors, pumps, compressors, and miscellaneous mechanical devices.
- Responsible for all mechanical drilling equipment pertaining to drilling of the well.
Essential Functions
- Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude.
- Enforce, clarify, and follow Company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support HSE objective of no injuries, accidents or harm to the environment.
- Promote operational excellence through procedural discipline.
- Delegate work effectively with clear definition of requirements.
- Supervise and ensure safety of those working under direct supervision.
- Comply with emergency response plan or Work Safe Procedures.
- Responsible for morale and order within crew.
- Ensure Authorized To Operate and Approved Competent Operator are applied.
- Understand LO/TO and Permit to Work procedures.
- Maintain and repair mechanical equipment and devices.
- Repair or replace defective or worn parts.
Qualifications
- Able to identify and understand functionality of various rig equipment.
- Must possess and maintain certifications and licenses as required.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in basic rigger's role.
- Knowledgeable of mechanical systems and skilled with hand and power tools.
- Must possess mathematical skills required for mechanic certification.
- Must have proficient knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
- Must be self motivated and work without close supervision.
- Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
- Can demonstrate knowledge of hoisting, pipe handling, rotating, circulating, hydraulic equipment, diesel engine/air compressors.
- Must possess sound reasoning skills and ability to follow directions.
- Must not pose a direct threat to safety or health.
- Must be able to recognize hazards, alarms, warnings.
