As an Assistant MES Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how Symrise’s manufacturing operations run across APAC from supporting the design, implementation and driving digitalisation and continuous improvement initiatives of our Manufacturing Execution System from our Singapore hub, with regional reach into China and India. You will work closely with cross functional team to support system rollouts and contribute to Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives that strengthen manufacturing performance equipment reliability. You will gain exposure to exciting regional projects and grow alongside a collaborative APAC team, all while operating within the highest standards of GMP compliance, safety and quality.
Core MES Support (Singapore)
Provide first-level support, monitoring and maintenance for MES applications and production equipment
Troubleshoot MES, system, machine and automation issues in collaboration with IT, Maintenance and external vendors

Generate reports and extract MES data to support operational decision-making and performance monitoring
Develop dashboards and visualizations using business intelligence tools to improve manufacturing performance visibility
Implement corrective and preventive actions to maintain and enhance production automation and system reliability
Support production teams in MES usage and adoption including training for new and existing users
Participate in system upgrades, validation, testing and continuous improvement initiatives
Regional APAC Support (China & India)
As part of the Singapore-based regional MES team:
Provide remote support and monitoring for MES systems and related equipment across regional sites
Troubleshoot issues in collaboration with local stakeholders, IT teams and vendors
Extend reporting, dashboarding and performance tracking to regional sites
Recommend and support automation and process improvement initiatives.
Support deployment of new MES functionalities and digital initiatives across the region
MES Development & Continuous Improvement
Working closely with global users and project teams to support the development and enhancement of Symrise MES solutions and production dosing systems by:
Developing User Requirement Specifications (URS)
Supporting functional testing, UAT, implementation and system rollouts
Creating and maintaining Work Instructions, user guides and training materials
Leading user training and change management activities
Identifying and implementing continuous improvement and automation opportunities
Operational Excellence (Autonomous Maintenance/TPM)
Support the Autonomous Maintenance pillar of TPM by:
Working with Engineering teams to develop maintenance training programs for operators
Identifying and developing shopfloor leaders and key operators
Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with Autonomous Maintenance standards
Developing and maintaining digital tools for tagging, cleaning, inspections and maintenance tracking
Leveraging digitalisation and automation to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency and operational performance
Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline
Strong interest in manufacturing digitalization, automation and Industry 4.0 technologies
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems
Familiarity with MES, ERP systems or industrial automation systems will be advantageous
Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or MicroStrategy will be advantageous
Experience with SQL, database queries or reporting tools will be an added advantage
Understanding of GMP-regulated environments will be beneficial
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Innovative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies
Effective communicator with the ability to work across cross functional and multicultural teams
Ability to work independently while contributing within a team environment
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
Proactive, adaptable and driven to deliver results
Ability to communicate in Mandarin for interactions with colleagues and stakeholders in China is an added advantage.
