Assistant Housekeeping Manager

Job Summary

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional area.
• Alternatively, a two-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major with no work experience required.
• Maintains current knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations.

Housekeeping Operations and Budgets

• Oversees lost and found procedures.
• Obtains room-cleaning and prospective check-out lists to prepare work assignments.
• Inventories stock and ensures adequate supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
• Communicates guest room status to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner.
• Coordinates guest room maintenance needs with the Engineering department.
• Understands and complies with loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Supervises daily shift operations and compliance with housekeeping policies, standards, and procedures.
• Assists in supervising inspections for all guestrooms and public spaces.
• Manages linen inventory and guest supplies and assists with ordering.
• Supervises Housekeeping and related areas when the Director of Services or Housekeeping Manager is absent.

Customer Service

• Handles guest problems and complaints, seeking supervisory assistance when necessary.
• Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.
• Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service within established guidelines.

Human Resources Activities

• Supports training initiatives for current and new employees.
• Participates in employee accident investigations when needed.
• Communicates performance expectations and monitors employee progress.
• Coaches, counsels, and encourages employees.
• Manages payroll administration.
• Observes employee service behaviors and provides performance feedback.
• Supervises staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial objectives.
• Communicates areas needing attention and follows up to ensure understanding.
• Participates in interviewing and hiring housekeeping team members when needed.
• Handles progressive disciplinary procedures as required.
• Uses the Labor Management System for scheduling and time and attendance tracking.
• Supervises housekeeping shifts, including breaking out the house, and participates in performance appraisals.

Workplace and Schedule

• The position is full time.
• The role is not remote and is based at the St. Regis property in West Bay, Doha.
