Role overview
Support a range of UK highways and roads schemes.
Work with lead design engineers and work package managers to develop compliant design solutions.
Contribute proactively across several projects and different types of highway work.
Responsibilities
- Support highways schemes and projects.
- Develop design solutions with the lead design engineer or work package manager.
- Use AutoCAD and other design software to produce and develop designs and drawings.
- Liaise with the UK project team to deliver schemes and projects.
- Apply relevant health and safety policies, manuals, and local procedures.
- Generate solutions to design problems and adapt to new ideas and skills.
Technical skills
- Working knowledge of relevant design standards.
- Use Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MX, PDS/Key Line and Sign, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise.
- Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
- Working knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
- Ability to support technical specifications and reports.
- Proficiency in standard office software.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- 2 to 4 years of postgraduate experience in highway design.
- Working towards a recognised professional qualification.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to liaise with UK project teams and clarify instructions and work scope.
