About the Role
The White Company is seeking an Assistant Buyer for Bed & Bath to assist in meeting sales and profit targets through commercial product range development. The role involves product development, supplier management, commercial analysis, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities
- Assist Buyer in building balanced, customer focused range working with Design & Creative teams
- Assist Buyer in driving business initiatives, new products & on boarding new suppliers
- Demonstrate understanding of product construction/fit and contribute to product reviews
- Work with QA department throughout development process to ensure sealing stages meet critical path
- Manage complex critical path with varied lead times
- Ensure product line lists and sheets are correctly maintained on system
- Support product business meetings, shoot outfitting, store training
- Understand target margin and highlight areas of risk
- Manage department space efficiently with junior team
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers and tackle issues timely
- Deputise for Buyer and contribute to supplier meetings
- Collate sourcing strategy and risk management
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a Head Office Buying role at Assistant Buyer level or Senior Buying Admin Assistant within home
- System skills including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience presenting to senior management in weekly trade, range planning and sign off meetings
- Managing development and day to day support of a buying admin assistant

Commercial Awareness
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners
- Deputise for Buyer in running weekly CP meetings
- Understand target customer through store visits
- Undertake store visits and competitor appraisals
- Understand key sales, profit and margin drivers
- Develop understanding of weekly pack and sales reports
- Demonstrate range building skills
- Contribute to departmental Strategy
- Receive and challenge open costings
Management, Training and Development
- Assist in development and training of BAs
- Manage BA on day to day basis
- Create training support documentation
The Skills & Experience That You’ll Need
- Extensive experience in Head Office Buying role at Assistant Buyer level or Senior Buying Admin Assistant within home

- Experience presenting to senior management
