The Assembly Mechanic II is responsible for assembling complex mechanical systems and leading critical build processes across multiple product lines. Serving as subject matter expert on assembly practices, they will be a key stockholder in troubleshooting, process improvement, and mentoring junior team members.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and pneumatic components into sub-assemblies across multiple models in each of their respective product lines
  • Ensure proper fit of all parts by drilling, grinding, or shimming to adjust to a proper fit
  • Read and follow engineering drawings with minimal supervision on complex machines
  • Use a variety of electrical, hydraulic, and air activated hand tools
  • Prepare assembly of machines by collecting and organizing required parts
  • Prepare parts for assembly through material prep techniques including blasting and painting
  • Move large parts and machines around manufacturing floor using forklift or overhead crane

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and assemble products or their parts
  • Possess a familiarity with assembly and measuring tools, ability to interpret visual aids, and ability to perform simple math
  • Ability to operate equipment, troubleshoot, and problem solve
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail with a dedication to quality and safety
  • Ability to frequently stand, bend, and reach
  • Ability to lift, pull up, or push up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assembling custom or engineered-to-order equipment
  • Prior experience in wastewater, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience (Kaizen, 5S, etc.)
