Role Overview

Leica Microsystems is seeking an Area Sales Manager for its medical microsurgery business.

The role is a territory direct-sales position serving government and private institutions.

The objective is to grow sales and margins, increase market share, and defend the business against competition.

Sales and Territory Responsibilities

  • Sell the microsurgery product portfolio, including Neuro, ENT, P&R/Spine, and Ophthalmology products, in the assigned territory.
  • Grow direct sales and profit margins across assigned accounts or territories.
  • Establish professional relationships with key customer personnel.
  • Meet targets for profitable sales volume and margin.
  • Drive business with high integrity and compliance.
  • Handle crucial communications, discussions, and business decisions.
  • Maintain knowledge of and rapport with relevant surgeons in the territory.

Market Development and Product Activities

  • Provide marketing leadership using the Product, Price, Promotion, and Place framework.
  • Develop and execute market attack plans and identify regional growth opportunities.
  • Launch marketing promotions to create demand and accelerate new product growth.
  • Conduct product launches, gather competitive data, collect voice-of-customer feedback, and create sales tools.
  • Monitor product mix, volumes, prices, and customer profitability.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Have a proven record of successfully selling similar products in a relevant industry.
  • Have at least 8+ years of experience selling medical devices or surgical operating microscopes for microsurgery in Central India.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and sound business acumen.
  • Have strong negotiation skills.
  • Have knowledge of Salesforce or an equivalent sales management program.
  • Have the technical ability to demonstrate microscopy equipment.
  • Be available for extensive field visits and travel within the assigned geography.
  • Have exposure to channel partner management.

Education and Additional Qualifications

  • A degree in Biology, Engineering, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, an MBA, or another science discipline is desirable, with equivalent relevant sales experience also accepted.
  • Excellent demonstration skills in a theater environment are a distinct advantage.
  • Be proficient in MS Office with working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be positive, proactive, organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask, and able to manage deadlines.
