Role overview
Develop AI systems and machine learning models for Amazon's global tax platform.
The platform calculates sales tax and VAT for Amazon sales and stores records to meet global tax law requirements.
The role focuses on improving product-information tax classification using machine learning at global scale.
Responsibilities
- Provide machine learning leadership for tax classification systems.
- Use large language models to build machine learning models for task-accuracy prediction.
- Apply generative AI to model outcomes from sparse data.
- Analyze system and legislative changes to identify causal determinants.
- Work collaboratively with software engineers, product managers, and business teams.
Basic qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience building models for business applications.
- PhD, or a master's degree with at least 4 years of experience in computer science, computer engineering, machine learning, or a related field.
- Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
- Experience with algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
