Position Summary
XTL Transport Inc. is seeking a bilingual a ccounting analyst with a strong work ethic and a positive team-oriented attitude to join our team in the Montreal region.
The accounting analyst is responsible for the monthly closing of various legal entities, preparation of journal entries, GST/QST returns, certain accounts payable activities, bank reconciliations, and data analysis, as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration, with completed accounting courses.
- CPA designation in progress or already obtained.
- Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience in any industry; transportation experience is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, etc.) and comfortable working with various ERP systems.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, both within the department and across different departments.
- Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and review of certain financial statements on a periodic/monthly basis for smaller entities.
- Accurately perform bank reconciliations, monthly continuity schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts.
- Prepare GST/QST returns at period-end and maintain the related records.
- Maintain an accurate and functional general ledger for various legal entities, as required.
- Handle certain accounts payable responsibilities, including closing purchase orders and entering invoices within the required timelines, as well as scanning and indexing documents in the ERP system for data archiving.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and projects using accounting data, as required.
- Recommend process improvements and efficiency initiatives without compromising accuracy.
- Participate in cross-training with the accounting team to ensure coverage during vacation periods.
