Analyst - Data Scientist Machine Learning

United Airlines’ Flight Operations Performance & Analytics team partners with business and technology leaders to improve operational performance through data-driven decision making.

The team develops analytics products, forecasting models, automation, and decision-support solutions that support Flight Operations priorities.

This role applies advanced analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and statistical modeling techniques to solve complex business problems, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic initiatives across Flight Operations.

The role works closely with business stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, and technology partners to develop scalable analytical solutions and clear, actionable recommendations.

Job responsibilities:

• Execute solutions to business problems using statistical modeling, machine learning, optimization and predictive analytics techniques
• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities that improve operational decision making
• Design and deploy scalable analytical products, dashboards and automated decision-support solutions
• Develop AI and Generative AI use cases including LLM-based solutions, text analytics and workflow automation
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational challenges into analytical solutions and recommendations
• Continuously improve analytical methodologies, models and processes through innovation and best practices

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree
• Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, or related quantitative field
• At least 3+ years of experience in modeling/ machine learning required
