About the Role
AltaGas seeks a Senior Manager, Midstream Finance to oversee derivatives accounting, technical accounting assessments, and financial reporting for the Midstream business unit. The role requires a CPA with 12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience and deep knowledge of U.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the derivatives accounting function including financial settlements and MTM accounting assessments
- Maintain and operate the process of identifying accounting assessments required within business transactions
- Review and present technical accounting memoranda on complex transactions
- Provide advice and guidance on technical accounting matters to internal stakeholders
- Build effective relationships and partner with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor corporate accounting policies and management reporting metrics
- Assist external reporting with preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A and AIF
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency within the Midstream Finance team
- Manage projects associated with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory changes
- Liaise with external auditors on complex accounting matters
- Support joint venture or asset level analysis and reporting initiatives
- Special projects as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and CPA required
- 12+ Years of progressively senior level experience in accounting/finance
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
- Prior experience in a large public accounting firm providing technical advice is a plus
- Enthusiastic, innovative and motivated team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines

Job Description
- Reporting to the Director, Marketing Finance, the Senior Manager, Midstream Finance will be the key contact for the accounting analysis of complex transactions, derivative/hedge accounting, cross functional business partnering, and process efficiencies and improvements for the Midstream business uni
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Oversee the derivatives accounting function including financial settlements and MTM accounting assessments
- Maintain and operate the process of identifying accounting assessments required within business transactions
- Review and present technical accounting memoranda on complex transactions to meet strategic reporting objectives and ensure appropriate accounting treatment
- Provide advice and guidance on technical accounting matters to internal stakeholders including summaries of accounting issues
- Build effective relationships and partner with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor corporate accounting policies and management reporting metrics as appropriate including legal entity accounting review and improvements
- Assist external reporting with preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and other externally released financial information such as the Annual Information Form (AIF)
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency within the Midstream Finance team
- Manage projects associated with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory changes, including the implementation of new accounting standards
- Liaise with external auditors on any complex accounting matters
- Support joint venture or asset level analysis and reporting initiatives
- Special projects as required
Qualifications, Skills And Abilities
